“Mischief makers costumes are so unique and stunning.

They make a dancer feel like a million bucks. I always get a ton of compliments when I wear their costumes. The ladies behind Mischief Makers are creative, caring and really take the time to custom fit the costume design of the costume of your dreams and to make it fit your body perfectly so it is effortless to wear and dance the night away in. These women really love their craft and the dance and it shows!"

“I have been blessed to know and work with Catrice and Natasha directly for years.

I first saw their stunning costumes when I saw Catrice perform on stage. I was so excited to find out that she and Natasha created costumes themselves! I was drooling over the stunning, unique costumes I kept seeing, and was so excited that there was someone making costumes that catered to different body types and styles, especially the plus size body types.

Over the years I have purchased many costumes from them, and I love having costumes that are made for my size, body type and personal style. The attention to detail is top notch, and the customer service is everything you could ask for and more. They have even gone the extra mile to help me with last minute costume issues at an event we attend at the same time, and I am eternally grateful for their support( and sewing skills). I literally wouldn’t have been able to perform without them. They make me feel my very best when I wear their creations.

After performances I have had so many dancers come up to me and ask where my costume is from. I’m always proud to happily tell them it’s a Mischief Maker Costume Couture costume, and speak the word (aka obsession) of their excellent work with everyone.”

How to custom order your Mischief Makers Couture bellydance costume:

  1. Bring us your dream & we will help you find a way to make it a reality. Be ready to describe to us the style, fit, and colors that you are looking for. If you have pictures of a look that you have fallen in love with, send these to us (though we don’t do knock-offs, these can help us understand what direction you’d like to go in).

  2. Send us photos and/or videos of you dancing. We design for you, your body, and your unique style of motion. If we can see your build, and how you move, we can take these into consideration as we design and create your costume. It’s best if we receive these ahead of the consultation so that we can be review them.

  3. Tell us how much you plan to invest in your idea. Design elements, choice of fabrics and embellishments, etc., can all be tailored to suit one’s needs.

  4. Let us know when you would like to debut your new look. Please keep in mind that custom work does require time to create. Depending on the level of intricacy of the concept, a costume may require a greater or lesser investment of time for construction. This is something that will be discussed in your consultation. The more lead time there is between our meeting, and the expected completion date, the more flexibility there will be for planning. Also note that a rush order may add to the overall cost of a project.

“Mischief Maker Couture Costume Design creates beautiful and breath-taking belly dance costumes.

Mischief Maker designed my belly dance costume for an art of the Belly Festival. I enjoyed working with the phenomenal duo that is Mischief Maker. Catrice and Natasha’s professionalism and creativity. At every step of the design process, Mischief Maker provided status updates and sought my input. Mischief Maker finished my costume on time, and it was more beautiful than I could have imagined. Purchasing a costume is an investment. If a dancer were considering this investment, they would be wise to choose Mischief Maker.”

“I have bought 2 Mischief Maker costumes and they are not only beautiful, but they are well made.

I never felt beautiful in the costumes I had purchased before. But when I tried on my Mischief Maker costume, I couldn’t stop smiling.  My costume fit perfectly out of the box, when they shipped my costume to me is was shipped with such care, it came in its own beautiful storage box, inside my costume box there where,“How to care for your costume” instructions, a beautiful note and they even put an Evil eye amulet in my box for my protection. Please, tell me what designers are doing that? The answer is, “None”.  I was so pleased with my first costume I ordered another one while changing back into my clothes. You will not regret investing in yourself, it shows on stage when you are able to dance in a well made costume and you truly feel beautiful.”

Meet the Mischief Makers

Catrice Fairuza

Catrice Fairuza

-

Co-Owner & Co-Designer

Catrice Fairuza, began her journey as a designer out of need. She joined a local troupe and one of the rules of the troupe is that every member had to have a matching colored costume for each month. Having talked to a few designers and shopped at a few online stores. She found nothing that was both beautiful and that could fit me.

My next step was talking to several designers who told me that due to my size I would be up charged anywhere between $200-$400 for a 2-piece bra belt combo. I was really disheartened, sad and running out of time. I decided to Google how to make your own bra and belt. After buying a pillow at Jo Ann Fabrics and some supplies I started teaching myself to sew. While sewing I realized how much joy, and inspiration I found in making my own costumes, swimsuits, and clothes. I knew when I put on my costume it would fit me perfectly and look amazing on me. When you slip into a costume, dress or any piece of clothing made just for you, you’ll find you move differently.

Garment Designer

Natasha began designing dance costumes as a teenager for the Binghamton School of Ballet, in Binghamton NY.  She enjoyed not only the challenge of bringing the director’s visions into physical existence, but also making these creations function in the extreme range of motion necessary for dance. From that time forward, Natasha dedicated herself to the art of costuming & would never be far away from the dance world.

While pursuing her degree in Fashion Design at Buffalo State College, she worked closely with the theatre & dance departments there, creating garments for countless productions.  Her contributions to both dance and costuming inspired her professors to create a student award in her honor – “Dance Minor of the Year”.

After college, Natasha went on to work with many theatres and dance companies in the Buffalo area, and also many touring companies & celebrities, such as John Aston, and Henry Rollins.

Later, Natasha went on to become the local wardrobe mistress for the Catskill Mountain Foundation, in Hunter, New York, working with Alvin Ailey, Jose Limon, the Russian National Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Twyla Tharp, among others.

Presently, Natasha designs and creates unique costumes, garments and accessories with her good friend & business partner Catrice, as Mischief Maker Couture. They bring their special talents together in the creation of their bespoke clothing, cosplays, and dancewear. As a team, they have contributed to productions by Luna Chix, Rochester City Ballet, and have helped numerous individual performers bring their dreams and visions to life.

To each and every dancer that she has the privilege to work with, Natasha offers her lifetime of collected wardrobe wisdom & experience.
